“At MAD Artist studio, I am researching a weaving method for seating. Starting with studying a traditional woven seat, I push the traditional boundaries in material, structure and color. Meaning of hand-made object has changed over time. Many of the making processes can be replaced by machines these days. Still, all the woven seats out in the world are all hand-woven. Through this research, I explore the meaning of hand-made object and the craftsmanship. Lots of furnitures end up in landfill. Woven seat is a great way of extending the life cycle of the object as a sustainable design practice. I want my object to be exciting and thoughtful.”
